October Presentation: SNMP and Nagios
Are you a Systems Administrator looking to expand your skills? Look no further than the October 20th (normal 3rd Tuesday) Madison Linux User Group presentation meeting.
NOTE: there is some ambiguity as of 9/24 as to where this will be. It will either be at the normal High Energy Physics building (Chamberlain Hall, 4th floor) or it will be across the street. I (Doug) will edit this as soon as that is confirmed. Time will still be 7pm on the 3rd Tuesday.
From Wikipedia:
"Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is used in network management systems to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention. SNMP is a component of the Internet Protocol Suite as defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It consists of a set of standards for network management, including an application layer protocol, a database schema, and a set of data objects."
"Nagios (pronounced /ˈnɑːɡi.oʊs/) is a popular open source computer system and network monitoring software application. It watches hosts and services, alerting users when things go wrong and again when they get better."
